Emilee South plays commanding and fervent rock music.
Combining the raw edge of punk with the driving force of rock, South shouts unapologetically over chaotic guitar riffs and driving rhythms to themes of capitalism, feminism, privilege, and the power of community. With influences ranging from Grinderman and IDLES to Sharon Van Etten, the band transition seamlessly from exciting hooks to unyielding power.
South and band (Matt Dixon, William Lee and Dan Berry) have released two EPs to sold-out crowds, performed at LuliePalooza, Bigsound, Americana Music Festival, St Kilda Fest and Brunswick Music Festival; and Emilee recently supported Phil Jamieson on a huge East Coast tour.
Emilee South has also supported notable acts Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, The Teskey Brothers and Mo’Ju, and has seen support from radio and press like Double J, RRR, PBS, Rolling Stone, Beat and The Music.
Produced by Anna Laverty, South’s debut album ‘LUXURY’ is out now. South & band will be celebrating the release with a series of Victorian shows, and a Melbourne launch on September 20 at The Curtin.
